Using the Foghat® Cocktail Smoker

Before

  • Remove your Foghat® from the box. You may need to twist the lid slightly to detach it.

  • Familiarise yourself with the Foghat® components – detailed in ‘Foghat® Parts’ page of the leaflet included with your product.

  • Ensure you have a kitchen torch and appropriate container (with lid) to safely empty out the mesh guard and burning embers from the chamber.

Smoking

  • Loosely fill the chamber 2/3 full with one of our diverse range of culinary smoking fuels (available on Shop Page).

  • Compress culinary smoking fuel down.

  • Push the mesh guard firmly down into the chamber on top of the culinary smoking fuel so that it is compressed down and the mesh guard snugly fitted.

  • Place the Foghat® into the top of your vessel (glass, cup or one of our unique glass cloches) – you are now ready to start the burn. Always keep your kitchen torch on a medium flame and keep the flame pointed away from your body, clothes and other objects.

  • Angle your kitchen torch around 5-10cm away pointing diagonally down into the chamber. You will now see smoke filtering down through the main body’s holes and into the vessel.

  • You can choose the duration of the burn. The longer the burn, the smokier the result, but burn for no longer than 10 seconds.

After

  • Switch off your kitchen torch and remove the Foghat® from your glass or cloche.

  • Empty the mesh guard and embers into your container, put the lid on and allow to cool. Also allow the Foghat® to cool. Dispose of cold embers safely and responsibly.

Caution!

Always add culinary smoking fuel before burning. Never use a kitchen torch on an empty Foghat® nor add smoke shavings whilst burning. Before you turn on your kitchen torch, ensure there is no smoking fuel on the inner edge of the main body and the mesh guard is pressed firmly into place.

Chamber, mesh guard and embers will be hot. Never leave burning embers unattended. Further warnings are detailed on this leaflet reverse.

Cleaning & Care

The Foghat® should be cleaned after every use to ensure it works correctly and efficiently.

The main body may become blocked with soot after a few uses, which will reduce the flow of smoke – this is completely normal.

Simply push the chimney sweep through the little smoking ports on the neck of the main body to clean out any left-over soot. Wipe out any soot from the chamber.

Following these steps and with regular cleaning, your Foghat® should last for hundreds of burns.
